Outlaws of Puerto started like many good things do—by accident, on a beach, and in the stories of my friends in Puerto Escondido. What was meant to be a comic turned into a kind of rogue gallery, each profile telling its own wild tale. From the sand, sea, and shadows, these are the stories of the surfers, fighters, psychonauts, and misfits who live out here where land meets the raw edge of the ocean.
At first, it was a simple idea: a comic capturing the edge of Puerto Escondido. It would dive into the weirdness, the waves, and the ways this place draws out the outlaws of life. But instead, I ended up chronicling the very real characters around me. Their stories became my own way to understand the spirit of this place: a little bit punk, a little bit poetry, equal parts raw adventure and introspection.
I profiled everyone from jujitsu fighters with sand-battered knuckles to surf shapers carving waves into boards, motorcycle wanderers who’ve seen too many sunsets to count, and those who dig deeper into the mind through psychedelics. This space became about stories of the here and now—those mad, epic moments that could only happen here. What was born out of late-night talks, waves shared at dawn, and daring dreams turned into Outlaws of Puerto: a shop and brand inspired by this living, breathing place.
